So let me explain how insanity works.
You take a little madness, add a few fabulous singers, mix in some outrageously good pasta dishes and passed appetizers, then let Delray Beach go completely wild in the essence of me, Alice Stardust, the beautiful crazies who support me, and the damn good food that somehow keeps everyone emotionally attached to carbs. This weekend we’re even rolling out an actual red carpet gifted to us by one of my favorite customers. She’s shy, so I’ll leave it at that — but trust me, it’s fabulous.
I tried to avoid the entire Mother’s Day conversation because we’re officially about 72 hours out and counting… the busiest weekend of the year. The weekend where we run out of chairs and I panic-buy the ugliest non-rocking chairs Hobby Lobby has ever produced for a cool $370. Just imagine how much Botox that could’ve bought instead.
But truthfully, this is also my second Mother’s Day without my son. If you’ve read my website, you already know my only son passed away in 2024. There’s far too much to explain, and somehow that single sentence already says enough. But I owe him the honor of saying this: Alice’s Teapot Café is his legacy. It’s the heartbeat behind all of this. The reason I kept going. The reason this strange, magical little world exists at all.
Grief is a lot like tea. Sometimes you sip it slowly. Some days it’s stronger than others.
So before I emotionally spiral into another chapter of denial, let’s fast-forward back to Alice Stardust.
This weekend is our first rehearsal run — although honestly, when you have beautiful singers with breathtaking voices surrounded by candlelight, cocktails, laughter, and incredible food, it hardly feels like a rehearsal at all. It feels like stepping inside some dreamy fever dream where nobody wants to leave.I could personally sit there all night eating the buffet and feel a tiny bit of nirvana. Three different pasta dishes passed appetizers floating through the room, garlic sautéed spinach folded into pillowy gnocchi with puréed basil, ricotta, and parmesan… honestly, when that dish hits the table, things start happening emotionally.
Then suddenly one of Delray’s most talented women starts singing through the ambiance while the audience throws in random humor and chaos from across the room.
And that’s the point.
There are no rules here.
Anything can happen.
It could go in a hundred different directions because this is Alice in Wonderland syndrome at its finest — a little madness, a little elegance, a little heartbreak, and a whole lot of unforgettable energy.
Which is exactly why Alice Stardust just might become one of the “Top 10 Things To Do in Delray Beach at Night.” 🌙✨
